Do you come to me, or do I need to bring my car in?

Next Gen Autoglass is a mobile service across the Sunshine Coast. Our technicians come to you whether it be at your home, workplace, or wherever your car is parked – within our standard service area.

That means no waiting rooms, no borrowed cars, and no time wasted. In most cases, you can keep going with your day while we take care of everything. If you’re unsure whether your location is covered, call us and we’ll let you know straight away.

How long does a windscreen replacement take?

Most standard windscreen replacements take around 45 minutes to 1 hour on-site. The exact timing depends on the vehicle, the glass, and whether ADAS calibration is required after installation.

Replacements requiring ADAS calibration generally take around 1.5 hours.

After the glass is fitted, the adhesive still needs time to cure before the vehicle can be driven safely. In total, allow about 2-2.5 hours from the time our technician arrives, but your technician will confirm the safe drive-away time on the day.

Can I drive my car straight after a windscreen replacement?

No, you need to wait for the safe drive-away time before driving after a windscreen replacement. This is the minimum time required for the adhesive to begin curing and properly bond the new glass to your vehicle.

Driving too soon can compromise the bond and create a safety risk. Your technician will tell you the exact drive-away time on the day, which can vary slightly depending on temperature, humidity, and vehicle type.

Which areas on the Sunshine Coast do you service?

We service the Sunshine Coast region, including:

  • Glasshouse Mountains

  • Caloundra, Pelican Waters, and Sippy Downs.

  • Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, and Mountain Creek.

  • Buderim, Palmwoods, and Woombye.

  • Bli Bli, Yandina, and Nambour.

  • Maleny and the hinterland.

  • Coolum Beach, Peregian Springs, Noosa, Noosaville, and Tewantin.

  • Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona

If you’re outside our standard service area, get in touch and we’ll let you know if we can help and whether an out of area travel surcharge will apply.

Do I need to be there for a mobile windscreen replacement?

Not always. As long as the vehicle is parked somewhere safe, accessible, and suitable for the work, we can usually complete the job irrespective of your being there.

If the vehicle is in a secure location and we have access to it, that’s often enough. If there are any special access requirements, we’ll confirm them when you book. Please note that payment is generally required once the work has been completed so if you are not going to be present let us know and we’ll make payment arrangements.

What happens if it rains on the day of my booking?

Light weather usually isn’t a problem, but we do need suitable conditions to complete a safe and proper installation. If weather may affect the job and you dont have suitable cover like a garage or carport, we’ll contact you and reschedule or adjust the booking as needed.

We always prioritise the quality of the installation and the safety of the finished job. If conditions aren’t right, it’s better to delay than rush it.

Can my windscreen be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?

Whether your windscreen can be repaired depends on the size, depth, and location of the damage. In general:

  • Chips smaller than a $2 coin can often be repaired.

  • Cracks shorter than 3cm can sometimes be repaired.

  • Damage in the driver’s direct line of sight usually needs replacement.

  • Damage near the edge of the glass usually needs replacement.

  • Chips or cracks with dirt or moisture contamination often cannot be repaired.

  • Chips or cracks that have already had an attempted repair can not be repaired.

We’ll always repair rather than replace where it’s safe and practical to do so. If you’re unsure, send us a photo through our quote form and we’ll give you an honest assessment.

Is it legal to drive with a cracked or chipped windscreen in Queensland?

A damaged windscreen can be illegal in Queensland if it affects the driver’s vision or compromises the safety of the vehicle. Depending on the location and severity of the damage, it may also lead to a defect notice.

Even minor chips can spread quickly due to heat, vibration, or road conditions. The safest option is to have the damage assessed as soon as possible.

Do you repair side windows and rear windows too?

Yes, we can help with other automotive glass as well, including side windows and rear glass. These jobs usually need replacement rather than repair.

If you have broken side or rear glass, contact us with the vehicle details and we’ll advise on the next step.

Do you repair Tesla windscreens?

We do chip repairs on Tesla windscreens. However, due to the specialist nature of Tesla glass and the technology integrated into it, we do not currently offer full windscreen replacements for Tesla vehicles.

If you have a chip in your Tesla windscreen, contact us and we’ll let you know if a repair is possible. For replacement work, Tesla-authorised repairers are best placed to handle your vehicle.

Can you help me make a windscreen insurance claim?

Yes. We regularly help customers with windscreen claims through major Australian insurers. In many cases, we can guide you through the process and help with the paperwork needed for your claim.

What is ADAS, and does my car have it?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. These are safety technologies found in many modern vehicles, especially models from around 2015 onwards.

Common ADAS features include:

  • Automatic emergency braking.

  • Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist.

  • Adaptive cruise control.

  • Forward collision warning.

  • A forward-facing camera mounted on or near the windscreen.

If your car has any of these features, it likely has ADAS. If you’re not sure, check your owner’s manual or contact us and we’ll help identify it.

Does my car need ADAS calibration after a windscreen replacement?

If your vehicle is fitted with ADAS, an ADAS calibration check is generally required after a windscreen replacement. The exact requirement depends on the vehicle and system, but it’s important to confirm before the car is returned to use.

The camera and related safety systems rely on precise positioning relative to the windscreen. Even a small change can affect performance. We’ll confirm whether calibration is needed for your vehicle and arrange it where required.

What’s the difference between Genuine, OEM and aftermarket glass?

Genuine glass is sourced directly from your vehicle’s manufacturer – Toyota glass for a Toyota, Ford glass for a Ford etc. It is the closest match to what your car left the factory with and is typically purchased through a dealership. It’s also the most expensive option.

OEM glass (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is made by the same specialist glass suppliers (such as Pilkington, AGC, or Saint-Gobain) that manufacture glass for the vehicle production lines in the first place. In many cases, OEM glass is technically identical to genuine glass, just not branded by the car manufacturer.

Aftermarket glass is produced by third-party manufacturers, must still meet Australian safety standards, and is generally the most affordable option.

We source all three types of glass and will advise on the best option for your vehicle when you request a quote.

What warranty do you offer on your work?

We offer a lifetime warranty on workmanship. If there is ever an issue with the way your glass was installed, we’ll fix it at no cost for as long as you own the vehicle.

We also include free chip repairs for life on every windscreen we replace. If you get a new chip in a windscreen we’ve fitted, we’ll repair it for free, subject to our service area and booking conditions.
